Join the People’s Project Steering Committee – Help Shape How Tukwila Spends $50,000

We’re excited to share that applications are now open for The People’s Project Steering Committee — a resident-led group that will help design Tukwila’s first-ever Participatory Budgeting process. Steering Committee members will help shape a fair, inclusive process that gives community members the power to directly decide how the City invests in small, resident-driven projects.

This is a paid opportunity. Committee members will receive a stipend for their time and contributions.

What’s The People’s Project?
The City of Tukwila has set aside $50,000 to fund projects like benches, water fountains, public art, or safety improvements. In this process, residents will get to submit ideas and vote on what gets funded.

What does the Steering Committee do?

  • Attend monthly 1.5-hour meetings (June–December)
  • Help design the idea collection and voting process
  • Provide input on outreach strategies and materials
  • Help ensure the process is accessible, inclusive, and community-centered

We’re looking for creative, thoughtful, and committed residents who want to help shape something new in Tukwila — no prior experience required.

Youth ages 16+ are especially encouraged to apply — your voice matters!

Apply by June 30
